PRAYER CONCERNS

Ethel Kent was to receive the results of her Sept. 2nd biopsy this past Friday.  It was good to have her back with us last Sunday morning.  Gail Bigler was scheduled for an EDG this past Friday to determine if there is a problem in the opening between her large and small intestines.  Ray Ramsay has a blood clot.  Bill Daley is waiting for the results of tests related to severe stomach problems.

Curtis Blake remains stable at home under Hospice care. Vera Perry’s doctors have reconsidered and have recommended that she undergoes hip replacement surgery on Sept. 28 in Columbus.  Louis Bain, Kate’s husband, is recovering at home from surgery to remove a cancerous mass behind one of his ears.     Ed Hirauk, a friend of Donna Turley who has been worshipping with us the past several Wednesday evenings, is improving as he recovers from his Sept. 2nd quadruple heart bypass surgery.   Tom Russell, Greg Nestor’s grandfather, continues to undergo physical therapy at Belmont Community Hospital.  David Swann, Donna Turley’s brother, is recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and needs encouragement.  Shelley Dawes, a teacher at Union Local and a friend of several of our members, recently experienced the death of her 22-year daughter in an automobile accident.

Please continue praying for Callan Caldwell (newborn son of friends of Janet Lallathin), Joseph Gray (premature son of one of Rose Voscavitch’s friends), Craig Herwick, Faith Hilton (Bunky Loy’s granddaughter), Nancy Hudson, Kevin Kalany, Elmer LaRue (one of our former shepherds), Charlotte Mason (Mae Deller’s daughter), Darrell Newland (Paul Huffman’s uncle), Ray Ramsay, Edie Roberts, Brad Schrum, John Sowinski, Peg Spielvogel, Brenda Stillion (Angel Baker’s cousin and Karen Barbe’s sister), Lauren Symanek (Wayne Patton’s niece) and Alexis Thornberry.

Let’s continue our prayers for our expectant mothers…Leslie Huffman (February) and Terra Blacker (April).  We are also happy to announce that Rick & Ashley McKeen are expecting their second child in March.

Skip & Linda Gooch left last Wednesday for a 4-week visit with their daughter and her family in Las Vegas.

SERVING IN THE MILITARY

Please continue your prayers for  Nathan Rodak (Bill & Joan’s grandson) and Kristen Roy (Pearl Roy’s granddaughter).  This coming Wednesday, Joe Stenger III, Joe & Karen’s son, is to  be deployed to Afghanistan for six months.

PUBLIC REQUEST FOR PRAYERS

Last Sunday morning, Amy Higgins publicly responded to the invitation to request our prayers as she and her husband, Ryan, try to cope with their recent miscarriage.  Let’s continue to support both Amy and Ryan with our prayers.

MINISTRY OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Teams 2,3&4 will lead our Ministry of Encouragement for the next two weeks.

SYMPATHY

We extend our deepest sympathy to Debbie Roach, Cheryl Stefan and their families in last Monday’s death of their mother and our sister in Christ, Marcelyn Jones.  Her funeral was Friday.

Our sincerest sympathy is also extended to Joyce Orzolek in last Tuesday’s death of her sister, Clara Main, who was a member here in the early 1990’s before moving to Delaware, OH.

We also sympathize with Anna Witchey in last Monday’s death of her sister, Betty Witchey. Her funeral was Thursday in Bellaire.

Our prayers are with all three of the families.

MONTHLY FELLOWSHIP

Following this evening’s worship service, we will meet in the MP Room for refreshments as we honor those with Birthdays or Wedding Anniversaries in August and September.  Care Group B will be in charge of the preparations and cleanup.

USED CLASS LITERATURE

If you taught during the Summer Quarter and have reusable class literature, please return it to the table outside Brad’s office.

WEDNESDAY ADULT CLASS

Following an excellent summer series, this coming Wednesday, Everett will resume the study of 1 Corinthians with 1 Cor. 7 :25.

RETURNING TO COLLEGE

Several of our students have already left for college or technical school.  So we can encourage them throughout the school year, please give their school address to Joyce Slatt for publication in a near future bulletin.  We also want their names if they are commuting locally.

GLEANER CANS

A few cans remain on the table in the foyer to be used in collecting your loose change to help  provide for the children who live at Potter Children’s Home in Bowling Green, KY.  The deadline for returning the full cans is Nov. 13.

A DEVELOPING MINISTRY

During last Wednesday evening’s adult class, Brian Games announced that he would like for everyone who is interested in helping our church family in more effectively reaching out to others with the message of Christ to meet together for prayer and discussion.  If you are interested in becoming involved in the prayer and discussion sessions, please let Brian know so he can schedule a time for us to begin meeting together.

BELMONT COUNTY FAIR SERVICE

Brad and several others will be leaving after communion this morning so they can go to the Fairgrounds to lead the  worship service at 11:00.

FOREST HILLS NURSING HOME

We hope you will join us as we go to Forest Hills Nursing Home today at 2:30 to worship with the residents.

NORTH HILLS YOUTH RALLLY

The annual Youth Rally sponsored by the North Hills congregation in Pittsburgh will be Sept. 23 & 24.  Contact Brad for more details.

IN SEARCH OF THE LORD’S WAY

In the first of a two-part series on “Baptism” in next Sunday’s broadcast, Phil Sanders will explore what the Bible teaches about  baptism from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts.  He will examine the Lord’s way, the purpose, and the meaning of baptism in a study through the New Testament.   The program can be seen locally every Sunday on WTRF-TV, Ch. 7, at 7:30 a.m.
