PRAYER CONCERNS

Shelli Glasgow is on bed-rest due to severe back pain following her recent surgery.   Mary Taylor is doing well following her recent eye surgery.  Ethel Kent also continues to recover at home from recent colon cancer surgery.  Bill Miller is still waiting for the recent tests on the  mass on his thyroid.  Vera Perry will undergo hip replacement surgery on Nov. 3.  Edie Roberts will be staying with her mother in Wheeling indefinitely while her mother recovers from a recent fall.

Jennifer Wheeler, Amy Nestor’s mother, had corrective surgery in the Cleveland Clinic last Monday which was related to a long time injury on her forehead.   Louis Bain, Kate’s husband, will consult with his doctor in the near future regarding additional spots they have detected on his thyroid and the surrounding area as well as consulting with his doctor this coming Friday concerning possible radiation treatments.

Those for whom our prayers have been requested recently need our continued prayers…Dee Adams, Evelyn Barker, Gail Bigler, Craig Cardwell  (friend of the Farbers), Rachel Emerick (a Junior at Beallsville Hi School, cancer), Larry Hay [Tiffany (Swallie) Hay’s brother-in-law], Faith Hilton (Bunky Loy’s granddaughter), Ed Hirauk (friend of Donna Turley), Kevin Kalany, Dorothy McCluskey (Brad Schrum’s grandmother) Charlotte Mason (Mae Deller’s daughter), Ray Ramsay, Tom Russell (Greg Nestor’s grandfather), Peg Spielvogel, Jason Sponhaltz, Brenda Stillion (Angel Baker’s cousin and Karen Barbe’s sister), Vonda Swisher, Lauren Symanek (Wayne Patton’s niece) and Chelsea Turner.

Let’s continue praying for those who are expecting additions to their families within the next few months…Leslie Huffman (February), Ashley McKeen (March), Terra Blacker (April),  and Carrie Lucas (April).

SERVING IN THE MILITARY

Please remember those who are serving in the military from our church family and extended church family… Nathan Rodak (Bill & Joan’s grandson), Kristen Roy (Pearl Roy’s granddaughter) and Joey Stenger (Joe & Karen’s son, Afghanistan).

SYMPATHY

Our sympathy is extended to John & Mary Donna Wodarcyk in the death of John’s nephew, Leonard Worwa, last Monday.

WEDDING

The church family is invited to the wedding of Rebecca Santini and Justin Burchett this coming Saturday at 4:00 here at the church building.  The reception will be held at the Belmont Gymnasium in Belmont at 6:00.  R.S.V.P.

GLEANER CANS

Nov. 13 is the deadline for filling and returning the cans for the children who live at Potter Children’s Home with coins and paper money.   There are still 5 or 6 cans available on the table in the foyer.  Take one and fill it as much as you can in the remaining month.

OUTREACH

Those who are interested in extending our outreach into the community are invited to meet at the St. Clairsville Memorial Park for a covered-dish dinner, prayer and discussion following this morning’s worship service. Contact Brian Games for more details.

SHEPHERDS-DEACONS-PREACHERS MEETING

All our shepherds, deacons and preachers will meet for their bi-monthly meeting next Sunday at 4:30 in the MP room. All the deacons are to submit their recommended budgets for 2012 before or during the meeting.

BRAD NEEDS OUR HELP

We can help Brad with a project for his Master’s Program by meeting with him in the MP Room today at 4:15 to assist him with a timeline exercise in telling our congregation’s story.  If you can help, contact Brad.

CAMPING/BONFIRE

The church family is invited to participate in a weekend of camping with several Christians from the Sparta, OH, congregation at Rich & Julie Daley’s this coming weekend, Oct. 14-16.  Come for all or part of the activities.  There will be a covered-dish dinner and bonfire on Saturday at 5:00.  (See the announcement on the bulletin board for more details.)

MINISTRY OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Teams 3,4&5 will lead our Ministry of Encouragement for the next two weeks.

MEET THE PRESIDENT

If you would like to meet Dr. Harold Shank , the new President of Ohio Valley University located in Parkersburg, he will be in the fellowship hall at the Wheeling congregation on National Rd. Monday, Oct. 24 at 7:00.  If you are interested in attending, please let Everett know.

IN SEARCH OF THE LORD’S WAY

From time to time we each need to take a closer look at the cross of Christ. In next week’s lesson, “The Cross,” Phil Sanders will focus on what the Lord Jesus did for us on the cross, how He loved His Father, and how He loved each of us. The broadcast can be seen locally every Sunday on WTRF-TV, Ch. 7, at 7:30 a.m.
