We Are Victors

It is probably one of the saddest things in Biblical studies to realize how many people, because of various false ideas and misunderstandings, have really missed the basic point of the book of Revelation. Revelation is about VICTORY! God wins! Because of that, in the end, WE win! What a great message to close the Bible with! Don’t miss this truth about God’s Word.

Over and over this message is emphasized in the book. Today, consider just one passage: Revelation 12:10-12

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”

Do you hear the good news of victory there? If not, read it again more carefully. When Christ ushered His Kingdom into this world, Satan was kicked out of heaven and thrown down — defeated! When Jesus shed His blood at the cross — the Lamb of God slain — the devil was conquered once and for all! When God’s people who know all of this share this message (“the word of their testimony”) with others, each time they do so, the Deceiver is vanquished once more!

Therefore, we are to be a people who rejoice! We have won! Not on our own efforts or by our own power, but by the power of God in Christ Jesus. Only if we are bound to this earth, focused on worldliness and sin, should we tremble in fear. Why? Because if that is our state we live in Satan’s realm now — he has been thrown down here and is attempting to wreak as much havoc as possible in the short time he has.

But you see, Christians, though still physically living in this world, spiritually live on another plane — a heavenly one — and on that plane we live in victory. We are conquerors — indeed, more than conquerors, through Him who loves us.

Don’t miss the revelation of Revelation!!
